Olympia Titans – I Salute you…

My Titan family,

Guys, to tell you the truth, I have been dreading writing this. I am not going to write a match report like I usually do. For those of you outside the box, unfortunately we couldn’t push through to district finals.

We were beaten by the Warriors of West Orange 4-1, which was an unfair score especially when they were not all that. Perhaps it was where we played, bad memories at Ocoee High school, ugh I cant stand that place…Anyways, no excuses, enough about all that. I want to reflect on a magnificent season.

You all know that this was my first year coaching High school in the United States. I couldn’t have asked for a better team. As a coach,  I have been accepted into the Titan Family. I really did just appear out of no where, perhaps I was meant to be. I believe in signs and that everything happens for a reason.

We fought so hard. We improved so much. When you think of the pre-season tournament in Auburndale to where we are now, its incredible. This is a family. That is the way it should be. We are all brothers and we all look out for each other. Boys, I felt that the emotion and passion has been growing by the minute. You gave your all it’s all I ask.

Finding this very hard to swallow…  I didn’t sleep a wink last night. – I never imagined this being so difficult for me. We see each other everyday for practice that’s where the bond starts and grows. There was always banter between us all but we also worked so hard in practice – that’s what you need. It is important to have that balance..

My seniors: Coops, Evan, Nick, Ricardo, Mike, Keegan, Jordan, Stevie, Fabian and Hunter Boys, you all played with your heart. You gave your all. I know this is hard but like Evan said, don’t think about the loss, think about the season, the good times, the wins, the amazing football we played. I wish you all the best in college or whatever it is you decide to do. I know you will do amazing in this new chapter of your life.-  Dont forget me boys. Saying farewell was one of the hardest things for me as im sure it was with you. – I wish you all the best.

Who knows where all of us will be in ten years time. I may be coaching for Liverpool ( that’s a big ask) One thing that is certain is, I will never ever forget this Titan team, every player, every parent – every memory. Especially Coach Farley for giving me such a wonderful opportunity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me be your coach, your mentor, brother and friend. This is the last Blog of the season – (what am I going to do?)

What was your favourite game of the season? – Mine had to be the first game against West Orange. The comeback from 2-0 down to tie the game 2-2.

Mike, Finn, Jordan, Fabian, Gui, Evan, Nick,  Julio, Pedro, Mo, Noah, Hunter, Keegan, Will (demps) Ricardo, Cooper, Tyler, Cello brothers, Stevie, Manuel and Alba

Just remember one thing. – You’ll Never Walk Alone!

Thank you for the tremendous support during the season. Friends, Families. Thank you to the parents who set up the team meals and concession stands. Couldn’t have done it without you. I also want to thank support in which the Titans have received worldwide too. I have been getting a lot of great support in the footballing world from top professionals in the game – they have been right behind us too.

Olympia High school Titans – I salute you..

Until next season – Bounce back ability is needed.

Coach Alex signing off…

GO Titans!!!

Great tribute to a fantastic season Buddy. I can never thank you enough for your inspiration, passion, and hard work that you gave to the team this year. We were better because of you! Can’t wait to work with you in the future.
