Andre Villas -Boas, also known as AVB, was sacked as Chelsea Manager.
Are we surprised? I think that 90% of us are not at all. Andre had a very good start to his first season with a 5 game winning streak. Fans were impressed. They liked what they were seeing from this young, talented and upcoming coach.
He seemed to have the right criteria to be the new Chelsea boss he could actually speak English. Andre could relate to the players. However, after that Manchester United game it all went very sour. A lot of Journalists seemed to think he had lost the plot. Andre had no idea what he was doing. In post match interviews AVB seemed completely clueless with his words.
There was an apparent rift between himself and some of the senior players in the squad. We all know what was going on with Frank Lampard. Form drastically has dropped and cannot seem to secure first team football. Years ago saying this word have been completely un heard of. Words were exchanged between AVB and Frank – they didn’t see eye – eye. Was AVB right not play Lampard? were there other players within the squad that could do a better job? Frank Lampard doesn’t even get a look in with England. There is a reason why AVB never player him and there is a reason why Frank doesn’t appear for England – he just isn’t good enough.
Moving on… The John Terry saga is too much for anyone to swallow. Being a coach and having to deal with that is enough to drive anyone insane, media wise anyway.
Then you have the owner. The Russian Billionaire, Roman Abramovich. I think I would rather “The Godfather” be my boss to be honest. That is enough for anyones plate. Roman watches your every move. The Russian will even turn up at the training ground.
The Chelsea job is one of the biggest in world football. It is a good club. It is in the capital. Top four club in the Premiership. Champions League football and of course a lot of money involved. Is the Chelsea job really all its made out to be? Could you do the job with all those high-strung Chelsea personalities? How would you deal with the owner, Roman Abramovich?
AVB had a win rate of just 50% – the worst of any Chelsea Manager since Glenn Hoddle.
Good luck to the rest of the season for Roberto Di Matteo, the interim coach for Chelsea FC.
Who next for Chelsea? There has been 6 different names since the Special one..
