Transfer Deadline day is always very exciting. It can also be very stressful too, not only for managers and coaches, players but for the Fans. I have to admit I was one of many.
Over 400 Million was spent in the premiership and who says we are in times of hardship?- well the owners certainly are not. We saw a lot of good moves for clubs. Some didn’t spend any, others were close to signing players and failed to do so. I will touch bases with you about Liverpool a little later on. I think the two biggest clubs that had a lot of moves were Man City and surprisingly QPR. Those two teams met today with City coming out the victorious, winning 2-1
I could talk to you about this all day but I really just want to skimmer over this. Well all know RVP had his big move to United. Chelsea clinched Moses. City off loaded a few, Nigel De Jong moved to AC Milan, very good defensive midfielder in my opinion. City brought in Everton’s Jack Rodwell and Richard Wright, do you all remember him? – yes the goalie. Wright disappeared for the last 8-10 years, was supposed to be the new upcoming talent. Wright signed for City- very bizarre! QPR signed Brazilian and Inter keeper Julio Cesar on a free. Spurs were also busy with Dembele, French keeper Hugo Lloris and Clint Dempsey.
I am very happy to report that Liverpool didn’t clinch anyone. We off loaded Andy Carroll on loan to the hammers, pleased about that. Jay spearing went on loan to Bolton. Stoke got Charlie Adam, complete waste of space for I believe it was 5 million. Rodgers said we would get two players. The likes of Hunataleer, Theo Walcott, Daniel Sturridge and of course Clint Dempsey. Clearly 3 of those names were solid Goal scorers. This is what we need desperately. Walcott would add width. It came to crunch time, Dempsey’s dream move was looking good, I heard Sturridge wanted to sign and so did Clint. We wouldn’t pay the money.
Next…. Clint turns up at Spurs Lodge, signs. Daniel Sturridge was on the bench for Chelsea in the super cup. Liverpool didnt get anyone. It was made public that Rodgers was fuming.
I do not blame Brendan Rodgers at all. The fingers are all pointing director, Ian Ayre and the Fenway Sports Group. Clearly we have no money at all and it seems that we have off loaded to balance our financial troubles. Looks like we are in more of a mess than everyone thought. Liverpool should be snapping up these players. I know there is a lot of unhappy reds out there.
The latest is, Liverpool are looking for a new Director.
