Before you read this please clear your head. I want you to take yourself away from the situation, either as a United fan or a general football fan.
With the signing of RVP - does this put pressure on things for Wayne Rooney? A lot of fans of the game will know that Sir Alex bought RVP to be the perfect pairing at Old Trafford, in Rooney and RVP. Do you really think that? with the game changing the way it is in tactics and formation, with a lot of teams now playing the 4-2-3-1 system. United have the likes of Kagawa, Young and Valencia to play that famous 3 behind the striker in being Robin Van Persie.
Rooney is currently out for a month with a bad gash to the leg giving the likes of Welbeck and Hernandez to play and shine. Yes, all clubs should have a solid 4 strikers to have variation. The point im trying to address is as follows : Rooney’s time at United over? Think about it, Rooney can get you anywhere from 20-30 goals, but is that all? Do you think Rooney has done all he can? or does he have more fuel left in the tank?….has his prime been and gone? Yes, your thinking RVP is 29, older than Rooney – but what is part of Sir Alex’s plans for the Legacy of the club? Welbeck has sign a new 4 year deal, Javier is still young and Sir Alex obviously like his contribution to the team.
I see it like this – Rooney being compared to a $200 thousand dollar Bentley with over 100 thousand miles on it. Do you sell the car now and get the best price for it? or ride it out to the max and not get the money you want? Another thought, with Cristiano Ronaldo not currently happy at Madrid, could we see a straight switch seeing Ronaldo back at United and Rooney at Real.
I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter from all sets of fans…. United fans, would you let Rooney go to see Ronaldo back?
This is good food for thought over a pint tonight!
