Summer Clearout at Anfield

The summer is approaching and transfers will be happening. We all know the key to a decent team is to have replacements and weapons to use. Sometimes a club must unload players to bring players in, financially or whatever the case maybe.

Prime example, our leader and captain Steven Gerrard is nearing the end of his playing career so Liverpool football club must be proactive in signing a young, up and coming talent to replace him when the time nears.

Here are a few players of the current squad I feel maybe offloaded this summer.

brad_jones_5141d4600a5da719673228

Brad Jones

Jones is a good keeper, represents Australian national team. I just don’t think as a number 2 keeper he is strong enough to be called on. I always think with that Pepe Reina is complacent. Jones doesn’t push him hard enough for the number 1 jersey.

Joe-Allen-Liverpool-Player-Profile_2835421

Joe Allen

Brendan Rodgers brought him in from his old club Swansea. I just don’t think it’s worked out for him. Not strong enough physically for the defensive midfield spot. Competing with Leiva, Shelvey, Henderson even Sahin kept him out from playing.

Fabio-Borini-Liverpool-Player-Profile_2835419

Fabio Borini

Again, like Allen was brought in by Rodgers from his time at Swansea. Borini has been at several clubs in the past few seasons including Chelsea. Borini has had injuries, but when fit yet to show anything worthy. Being the number 3 striker he just isn’t good enough, especially when he is the first sub to come off the bench offensively

Oussama-Assaidi-Liverpool-Player-Profile_2835420

Oussama Assaidi

I liked this guy a lot, he is a fast winger and is technically very good on the ball. Assaidi can turn defenders inside and out. Rodgers just hasn’t given him a chance. I feel he doesn’t fit into his philosophy which is odd because he brought him in. Just hasn’t worked for him, a little bit like Joe Cole really. Perhaps he may go out on loan.

Martin-Skrtel-Liverpool-Player-Profile_2835467

Martin Skrtel

Form has dipped in recent months. Lost his partnership with Daniel Agger especially with it being Jamie Carraghers last season. Liverpool will need to strengthen in the center off defence and could offload Martin. Not consistent enough.

Stewart-Downing-Liverpool-Player-Profile_2835437

Stewart Downing

Downing is on the fence. Hit or miss. Downing had a poor start to the season but really improved and favoured by Rodgers in the latter part of the season. I am not really a fan, I think a bit overrated but does the job when up for it.

I think his best days were Boro/Villa.

Andy Murray – 2012 US Open Champion

British tennis history has finally been made. Andy Murray is the 2012 US Open Champion. The shadow of 1936 is no more!

Andy Murray has been so hungry for his first Grand Slam title. Being beaten in finals, getting to semis and quarters Coming short every time. After a long almost 5 hours of match play against the fantastic Novak Djokovic, Murray achieved his boy hood dream. 6-7, 5-7,6-2,6-3,2-6

It has truly been a remarkable summer for Andy Murray, representing GBR at the olympics. With all the pressure of one nation he was able to win Gold beating Roger Federer in the final. Andy has always said, it’s the US Open he wants. Murray likes the hard surface and has always said this is where he plays his best tennis.

Looking forward to next year, I think Andy Murray has a great chance at the Australian Open title, another hard surface. The french is a whole new game – then we have to get behind him for next summer at Wimbledon.

Andy Murray will surely be number one competitor for, BBC Sports personality of the year.

British sport has been taken to another level this year and summer – it make me very proud!

Andy Murray is a proud Scotsman, but an even prouder Brit – I salute you!

Andy Carroll

I just cannot hold my tongue any longer – I’m sorry.

I just watched the Reds draw at home with Stoke and enough is enough. Before I talk about Carroll I do want to point out that there was a number of players that didn’t perform today. Those among the list are Dirk Kuyt and Downing. I can somewhat sympathize with Dirk because he has not had a lot of first team football at all this season. I feel sorry for him, because he is a terrific player and has scored a lot of goals in a red shirt. Patience with Dirk. Stuart Downing… we all know what he is capable of, we saw it playing for Villa. Didnt seem to be in the game at all today..passing was off – he needs to become more of a threat down that wing for us – we want to see him beat players….

Andy Carroll……Andy Carroll. Enough is enough… myself and other liverpool supporters have been really frustrated with him in recent weeks. I now have reached breaking point. We signed the Geordie back in the new year – 1 year ago. Tell me Liverpool fans – are you impressed, do you like what you see? 35 million pounds later and not even 10 goals. Carroll scored over 30 for Newcastle. It’s just not working. A lot of people are saying give him time..1 year later…I think we have given him enough time. Then people are telling me, look at Torres. Well Torres has been and gone, to be fair – I don’t really care about Fernando, he wears the blue shirt now. Plus – Torres has world experience.

Today is a great example, he didn’t start – came on for the last 20. The reason in which Kenny brought him on was to win the game for us. For Carroll to score. Not to look pretty prancing around the box. What did he do? – Nothing! what has he done every game? Nothing. Does he look threating..does he look like he terrifies defenders? Absoulty NOT! I know he confidence must be really low, believe me it shows on the pitch. Half the time he is on the edge of the box when he should be attacking the 6 yard box. What does that tell you?…. That he is petrified of missing a sitter at the Kop end. Best place he could be is the edge of the box. Andy Carroll is a big lad…6ft 3 – Carroll should be winning everything in the air…

I know he is young… but for the price we paid for him – It has been a complete waste. There are players out there for cheaper, and scoring a lot more goals. I would even welcome Darren Bent from Villa. I was fooling around on Twitter, stating we should get a petition going: Carroll out.

Andy Carroll wears the number 9 shirt for the reds. So many legends have worn that shirt. Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler even Emile Heskey scored goals for us. – The player that wears that shirt, whoever he is MUST be scoring left and right. (give it to Luis). In my opinion he is protected because he wears the red shirt. Well im sorry, its time to stop sugar-coating him – This is all the more reason why he should be banging in goals and actually look like 35 million.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Love to hear your response… I’m sorry I just couldn’t hold my tongue any longer. Things have to change, the rumors about him going back to the Toon… I’m all for it.

January Transfer Window…

The New Year is creeping up fast and just days away. Which means the January transfer window will be open. Exciting times. The window opens at the beginning of the month for a duration of 1 month.

Christmas is not only exciting times at home with the family, but also in the footballing world. Every year over christmas we hear players being linked with different clubs.. some true rumors, others just paper talk. It gets fans excited and also nervous at the same time.

January is a chance for clubs to do their late christmas shopping, or even put players on their new years shopping list. I cannot believe it has been a full year since the big move of Torres to Chelsea from liverpool. Who is going to be the big move this new year, if there even is one.

We keep on hearing about the Carlos Tevez saga. Those of you that have read previous blogs of mine, know my opinion. I wish it would all end and we can be done with it. Just this morning I have read that the deal to AC is liniment. Not going to believe it til i see it. He is probably still soaking up the sun somewhere, doing complete ……ALL.

Gary Cahill’s switch the Fulham rd has been pretty much complete, just personal terms left. Wonder how Chelsea will look. What is AVB going to go with… Terry, Luiz, Cahill and Cole?….Transfer can get interesting! – Sticking with Chelsea, Alex has handed in his transfer request leaving the room for Cahill. Anelka will be joining the Chinese League. Speculation over Drogba, will he stay? will he join Anelka? – perhaps a move to the MLS?… – Also Kaka is rumoured to be joining the blues. Of course the blues have the money, there is rumor that why want to break the transfer record for a fee for The Hulk at 84 million.

From the Reds. I know there has been talk about Higuain and Ozil coming from Real. Dont think that’s going to happen. I know we have our eye on some 18-year-old Brazilian…doesnt every club in Europe?

Still waiting on Becks to make his decision. – Havent heard anything since the link to PSG. I have read the move is for 12.5 million pounds.. His Galaxy teammate has joined Everton on a 2 month loan deal. Nice to see Landon back in the premier league. Henry has done the same thing and joined his beloved Arsenal for 2 months also. Emotional return for him – nice to see him back in a Gunner shirt. I am sure the rest of the gooners are over the moon.

Barca still keen on Bale…really dont think for any price Harry will let him go. The other big eye is Neymar – where will he go? Lots of speculation around the young brazilian. Barcelona, Chelsea, Real, United have all been linked with him. All waiting to see where he goes, and the reason behind it.

Lots of excitement movement in the window…

Love to hear some of your thoughts…

Adidas Adipure Performance Shoes..

Had a wonderful Christmas. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, got lots of presents (if you were good boys and girls).

Had a few days off from the blog to soak up the family time. Now its straight back into action. I got a pair of the new Adipure performance shoes from Adidas. Shocked was an understatement after unwrapping. Such an awesome brother I have. People who know me fully are aware that anything Adidas – I love. Adidas is the best sports brand around. They beat any other for every piece of equipment they put out. There the best in what they do.

I have had my eyes on these Adipure for a while now. Not just because they were Adidas either. They are a remarkable piece of technology. They fit like a glove – excuse the pun, but they really do. Adidas first design of the 5 finger shoe.

Yes, I am impressed. Weather you use them for everyday use. In the Gym or marathon running, you will not be disappointed. They are lighter than a feather. It really feels as tho you are wearing completely  nothing on your feet. They are very soft and very comfortable.

I did a few sprints outside – no wonder they are designed for performance and speed. Its incredible.

You should definitely try these out guys…

Top 5 Football Commercials…

These have to be the top 5 greatest football commercials of all time….Yes perhaps some of them are indeed ADIDAS and i maybe a little bias, but they are still top draw. I was thinking about doing this blog over the weekend and I thought, eh…why not, i just wanted to see what you guys thought, and if you liked any others….Pepsi have been known to do good commercials as you can see…Make sure your volumes are turned up!!!!!!!

The first one you see is a Adidas commercial for the 2006 world cup in germany. – it was voted the greatest football commercial of all time. You asking yourself right now, why? – Put it this way, we have all been there, as a kid, selecting your team at school or in the park. Kick around stuff. This is exactly the same. Two spanish kids, growing up in poverty select their own team to face each other. Only, the list of players to choose from doesn’t consist of Jo Blogs but only…. the likes of the top draw. Including, Beckham, Zidane, Gerrard, Robben, Lampard, Khan, Kaka and  many more – it ends with a screaming mother, A CASA!  - or get in the house! I love it….

let me know what you think of the others?…..

Yes, this next one maybe Nike, but it is one of my favourites, Its old school, with Davids, Totti, Rui Costa, even Scholes and Andy Cole get a look in lol!

The next one, is a Pepsi comerical, Players v Zumo (again this is old school!!!!)

Another great one i like is Henry at home, its  Nike commerical.

Finally, just because he is awesome, and what a role model he is – ambassador to the sport, I threw in this one with Becks on the beach. It’s a Pepsi Ad only shot last year. Great way to finish this piece. Hope you enjoyed these commercials as much as I did.

Let me know what you think….
